  • Make sure every adult knows about healthy sexual development in children and the warning signs of sex offenders. Let everyone in the family know about the new people in your neighborhood.

  • Have a conversation with your family members especially with the kids.  If you would communicate with your kids/ girls of the family, they would be more comfortable in bringing out a certain issue in front of you.

  • Set clear family guidelines for personal privacy, respect, safety, healthy communications and behavior. Talk to them about these guidelines. Keep the conversation on if someone will violate these guidelines inside & outside the family what can be the outcomes of it. As children grow older the guidelines may change.

  • Prepare young people to take charge of their safety by practicing skills. One quick action can stop most abuse. Also, have a meeting with your neighbors' from time to time to increase the safety for your own good.

  • Learn about the state department, agencies in your area and how can you connect with them. Consider making a list of resources for everyone to have and having a list of phone numbers where you can contact in case of emergency will always come in handy.

  • Always check about the places you are going to and about your neighborhood on the registered sex offender website to take precautions beforehand.
