WARNING SIGN OF SEXUAL ABUSE IN ADULT
When you know the warning signs of sexual assault and how to respond to them, that can help you make a difference for someone you care about and in that someone’s life. Many victims of sexual assault are being afraid they won’t be believed, feel isolated, and are unsure of who to turn to for help and support. Some of the indicators of sexual assault in adults can also be caused by other sudden life changes or another traumatic event. As a friend or family member, you should be asking how they are doing and what is happening to make sure you are there for them. There are some Warning Signs in Adults that should be kept in mind - Signs of depression or anxiety Self-harming behaviors (cutting, burning) Suicidal thoughts or attempts Compulsive eating or dieting Sudden changes in behaviors or unusual changes in mood Withdrawn behavior Avoiding specific situations, people, or places Increase in drug or alcohol use or other self-destructive behaviors For college students, sudden falling grade
